CareComp insures exclusively Alabama nursing homes for statutory workers compensation benefits and employer's liability exposures. CareComp was founded in 1993 as a direct result of Alabama nursing home owners' desire to control their own destiny, the return of capital and premiums by effectively managing their facilities' workers compensation cost and exposures. CareComp is governed by a six member Board of Trustees, who are Alabama nursing home owners.
Being a small fund focused solely on Alabama nursing homes has allowed us to conduct one-on-one reviews, consulting, trend analysis, training, control and oversight to ensure that we build on a consistent record of performance. As a result, we have provided our members a refund every year since our inception. As of December 31, 2012, we have returned nearly $31 million (22.8%) of the premiums paid.
